Falls Park on the Reedy River

A hidden oasis right in the middle of downtown Greenville is Falls Park on the Reedy River. It is a beautiful spot to relax or get some exercise on a sunny day. The Falls Park has several spots to see the waterfalls of the Reedy River and colorful gardens for a picnic lunch. A great way to also enjoy the park is by walking above on the Liberty Bridge. This 345 foot bridge will give you the full view of the waterfall and gorgeous landscape of Falls Park.

Not only is there a fun park on the Reedy River, but you can also explore the river views with tons of options in delicious restaurants around the area.  Enjoy a great lunch, dinner or happy hour with a view right in the middle of downtown!

Bon Secours Wellness Arena

If you enjoy live entertainment these two venues will be the spot for you in Greenville!

Bon Secours Wellness Arena in downtown Greenville is always a favorite spot for entertainment. It is the home of the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, a mid level professional hockey team. From October-February make sure to check out the Swamp Rabbits and support your local team.  The Swamp Rabbits are very active in the Greenville community and host local schools for promotional nights with free tickets and fun games during intermission. Hockey is not the only thing making a stop by the Bon Secours Wellness Arena. Entertaining all of Greenville in 2019 is Disney on Ice, UFC Fight Night, New Kids On The Block, Big Apple Circus, Willie Nelson, Thomas Rhett, Chris Stapleton and Paw Patrol Live!  A show for all interests take place at this arena!

The Peace Center

The Peace Center is also home to several entertaining events throughout the year. In 2019-2020 The Peace Center will be the stage to popular Broadway musicals such as Aladdin, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Les Miserables, and Cats. This venue will also host Gladys Knight, the philharmonic and several comedians throughout the year. The Peace Center is also home to a musical theatre summer camp for teenagers to embrace their passion and grow in talent from the center’s musical and dance directors.

Fluor Field at the West End

Greenville is also home to the Drive who play at Fluor Field at the West End.  The Greenville Drive the minor league affiliate to the Boston Red Sox. In the months of April-September make your way to the ballpark to check out a baseball game.  The Greenville Drive have different promotions each night at the ballpark from fireworks, dollar drink night and a favorite, kids run the bases! On a beautiful night attend a game, who knows, you may even see a future MLB star in the making!

The Children’s Museum of the Upstate

If you are moving to the Greenville area this summer and want a fun afternoon with a place to cool off after unpacking, The Children’s Museum of the Upstate is for you!  The museum offers 2 locations in the upstate: one in downtown Greenville and the other in Spartanburg. The Spartanburg location is for ages 5 and under with special activities for the little ones. The Greenville location is for all kids and displays different exhibits throughout the year. They have a Moon Room where kids can interact with outerspace and watch video clips of the first moon walk. A fun exhibit for all ages is Grandma Betty’s Farm. Of course everyone loves a dinosaur exhibit which is up June-September filled with interactive activities and ancient fossils! If you are looking for a fun activity for your kids to do during the summer and make new friends the museum offers Summer Camp too! Each week is a different topic filled with fun activities ranging in ages PreK- Fifth grade and can be half day or full day.

Greenville Health System Swamp Rabbit Trail

A fun and active activity to do in Greenville is the Swamp Rabbit Trail. This is a 22 mile trail that connects downtown Greenville to the nearby town of Travelers Rest. You can walk, run or bike through this trail. Don’t worry, you don’t have to do the whole thing! There are several parking areas, restrooms and water fountains along the way to decide where you want to go! You can either start or end your journey at the Travelers Rest Swamp Rabbit Brewery and other nearby restaurants of mostly farm to table options, coffee houses and bakeries. Either end of your trail is a delicious treat! On the Swamp Rabbit Trail in Greenville you can begin in Falls Park with views of the river and enjoy a meal at a number of delicious restaurants along the trail.

Greenville Zoo

The Greenville Zoo is the home to hundreds of animals from around the world. After settling in to your new home in Greenville, spend a day exploring the exhibits and learning about each animal. The zoo is not only home to fun animals but exciting events. Throughout the year the zoo will host concerts with an admission ticket. Relax and enjoy the music after a day of walking around the zoo.  In the month of October be sure to check out Boo In The Zoo for a Halloween experience to remember. The zoo will offer 20 Trick-Or-Treat stations and several character photo opportunities for the kids. Be sure to bring your plastic pumpkin for a fun night of tricks and treats with the animals of the Greenville Zoo.
