Known as one of the oldest road events in the Southeast, the Lexington Medical Center Governor’s Cup Road Race, an RRCA Regional Championship event, will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016, in the Greater Columbia area. Running for 44 years, the Carolina Marathon Association is proud to host this rain or shine event at South Carolina’s Running festival this year.
Don’t miss out on any of the races for all runners no matter your age. There will be one race held on May 13, the Main Street Mile. On May 14, the other races to be held include: the Half-Marathon, the 5k run and the 5k walk. At the finish line, refreshments will be available for all the runners. There will also be prizes for each race and shirts for all who register for the event.
For the kids, the Kids Fun Run, a one mile loop, will also be held on May 14. All participants in this race will receive a shirt, bib and medal and get a chance to hang out with some of their favorite mascots! In addition, the two top schools with the most participants will be given some great prizes.
As you run in these races, you will be able to see many of the outstanding sites and attractions Columbia has to offer. After the event, be sure to check out all the shops, restaurants and other activities downtown and see why we choose to build here!
